Sundar Pichai tweeted yesterday on Jan 27 and updated the
date and venue of next Google I/O Developer conference. Google I/O Developers
conference is an event where Google launches their new software products.
As hinted Sundar Pichai the next I/O meet is going to be held on Shoreline Amphitheater California from May 9-7 of this year, we can expect a new Android Version starting with Alphabet letter ‘Q’. But it is a hint only and can’t be much sure just because Android 9.0 (Popular as Android Pie) has made its debuted recently.
Almost four years ago Android 5.0 (Popular as Android Marshmallow) version was launched and since then Google started a new trend to launch Android latest version with new version code number and code name chronologically. For example 5.0 & 5.1 version called ‘Lollipop’ and 7.0 & 7.1 called ‘Nougat’.
Looking far back in time from October 19 2011 to October 31 2013 there were three versions launched from 4.0 to 4.4.The 4.0 version was named ‘Ice-cream Sandwich’, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 were named ‘Jelly bean’ and eventually 4.4 was known as ‘Kit-kat’. After that with launch of ‘Marshmallow’ aforesaid trend was established by Google I/O.
The major difference between the update releases is matters to their Android API level which can communicate with the devices’ built in function and functionality. Functionality can be added or depreciated in new API. API stands for Application Programming Interface. To understand the API in simple words let’s say you want to build a house with Bricks, Sand and Cement etc. then which tool is you majorly required? The answer is a ‘Trowel’ but if you want build a wooden house then the tool you will require most is a Hand-saw.
In this situation Trowel and Hand-saw are used differently to build a home mostly as API. Android API is a ready to use code library ‘Framework’ which is used to develop Android OS and Android Apps. Therefore Android App developers always wait for new API when a new Android OS launches. API level is an integer value that uniquely identifies the Framework API version offered by a version of the Android platform. For example API level 3 to 10 is made for smartphone and API 11-13 is made for tablets.
API also determines how the Android OS will be distributed. The distribution counts the platform usage and so the market share. Till date Android version 8.0 & 8.1 distribution is on the top, makes most popular in every continent.
Currently Android 9 (also known as Android Pie) is into the center which API level is 28. Android Q is in pipeline and will be launched soon, hinted by Google CEO Mr. Sunder Pichai. If there no updates released by Google I/O for Android Pie then the next API level will be 29 with Android Q.

There are so many versions and updates release were rollout past and so till today. Now the question is arise that why different Android OS update release in same versions? Well this is a question that teases every Android smartphone users. For example we saw Android Oreo 8.0 and Android Oreo 8.1. How updated version is different from other and what major difference while as user we never marked the differences. The major difference between the update releases is matters to their Android API level which can communicate with the devices’ built in function and functionality.
