I must tell you to clear the concept of ‘web traffic’ before discuss on the SEO concepts because moving to SEO without knowing the ‘web traffic’ may lead us to wrong direction.

What is web traffic, how it works and how to get more traffic on my website?

When you create a blog or a website, you need a traffic that follows you. But suddenly you will be finding yourself surrounded by few questions that majorly everybody asks themselves after creating a website.

Who knows you have created a website?
How they (users who search the content) open my website?
Why they open my website?
How they find my website among the millions over the internet?
How to drag the users on my website etc.

Well list of the questions is too long but if above mentioned questions have been solved then half of the list will be completed and other half will find the right way to be solved.

Read the first paragraph again, you will find a word is ‘web traffic’. What is web traffic? Well I am sure your answer will be, the number of the users who come on your website is referred as ‘web traffic’. Please correct me in the comment section if I am wrong.

Actually web traffic or traffic referred as number of users is quite incomplete concept which leads us to wrong direction. This concept enforces us to attract the users on our website only but not to spend their quality time.

This is where we need to understand that actually what the web traffic is. The web traffic is referred as the amount of data sent and received by a user to a website.

Now if we follow the correct concept, we have two different scenarios first user is coming to our website and the other, he is spending quality time on our website.

But remember the very first question in the above list that who knows that you have a website. Well the answer is, nobody knows then second question arises how they will manage to come to my website. The answer is so simple, ‘through Search Engine’. Google, Bing and Yahoo are the search engines that are used to search the content by the users. If you are a blogger or a website creator I am sure you are completely aware of Search Engines and how they are used to search any content.

What is the basic function of search engine?

We all search the contents over the search engine. Suppose we are looking to buy a Movie DVD online then basically what we do to search a Movie? Usually we try to search by ‘The Movie Name’, ‘Actor or Actress Name’, ‘The Director’s Name’ or ‘Geners’,

Now let’s assume I want to search a book on Google. If I search a book by its name then I type ‘book’s title’ and I get the results but when I do not remember the book’s name then I search with ‘book’s writer’ or ‘publisher’s name’ etc. Book’s title, write & publisher’s names are keywords which help to search the contents on search engine.

Let’s understand same thing with another example. Suppose you came to a Library where you ask for a book named ‘Hamlet’ then the librarian easily finds that book and gives to you. But if you ask the librarian for William Shakespeare’s book then librarian has to do a little more work just because he has a list of books to show you.

Now let’s imagine you are librarian but not for a small library, you are a librarian for every book in the whole world. Now if people come to you and demand the book by the title, other words or whatever, it’s not an easy job to respond them, you must have a system so that you can respond all of them within seconds.

How I could manage all this?

First you have to get the all information of all books available in the world. You have to analyze every single book to know how each book is related to other, then find the best books according to their requirements and show them finally. Once again it’s not an easy task.

Google, Bing & yahoo like search engines do the same thing with your website. Search Engines do not have their own content; they scan and index the contents available on your website on their own servers. This process is called Crawling. This is the most important part of SEO.

When someone attempts to search something on search engine with a specific keyword then search engine fires the robots programs which match that specific keyword with your indexed content. If your content matched with same keywords then search engine fetch your content in that list which is processed by a special program often called Algorithms. Every search engine has their own Algorithms and they also change it time to time. This Algorithm decides the raking of the webpage over the final list which is executed after the search.

Now I hope you have understood the basic concept of that how search engine works.

What is SEO and why it is necessary to get the traffic on website?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Web traffic and SEO is complementary to each other. Perfect SEO results the heavy traffic and heavy traffic gains the higher SEO ranking. This is the balance that takes time to build on search engine and yes, it tests your patience. So keep working with patience.

There are two types of SEO.
1. On-page SEO
2. Off Page SEO

On-page SEO is fully depends on you and your website. On-page SEO depends up on your site contents, site programming and site architecture. On-page SEO also depends how the web pages are interlinked with relevant contents on your website. It also helps to increase the traffic on your website.

Where the off-page SEO depends up on that how your trust worthy you are over the social networks and what is your reputation, where are you share your website links and what is you location?

There is also factor that affects the SEO that wasn’t mentioned in that SEO type list but it too important and that is the violation. If you ever try make fool the search engine then it will count as a violation and it costs heavily. There are few penalties against violation which impacts negatively on website reputation and its rank you downwards on the search result.
